Domain setup instructions
Your new site is built and running. The last step is telling your domain name to point at it instead of the old site. Everything below happens inside your GoDaddy account, and it should take about ten minutes of actual clicking.
Go to godaddy.com and sign in. Click your name in the top-right corner, then choose My Products.
Scroll down to All Products and Services. Under Domains, find lintextractors.com and click the word DNS on the right-hand side.
Right now another company is handling your domain's settings behind the scenes. This step brings them home to GoDaddy so you can manage them yourself.
On the DNS Management page you'll see a row of tabs. Click the Nameservers tab, then click the black Change Nameservers button on the right.
A box titled Edit nameservers opens. Choose GoDaddy Nameservers (recommended), then click Save.
If GoDaddy asks you to confirm, go ahead — that warning is normal.
Nothing to do here. The change usually takes 30 minutes to 2 hours. Feel free to close the page and come back.
Your old website may go dark during this window. That is normal, and it's temporary.
You'll know it's ready when the DNS Records tab shows a list of records with an Add New Record button above it.
Back on the DNS Management page, click the DNS Records tab, then click the black Add New Record button.
Fill it in exactly like this, then click Save:
CNAMEwww
lint-extractors.pages.dev
1 HourIf GoDaddy says a record named “www” already exists, edit that one instead of adding a second, and replace its value with the address above.
Step 4 handled www.lintextractors.com. This step makes the shorter lintextractors.com land in the same place.
Click the Forwarding tab. You'll see two sections — Domain and Subdomains. In the Domain section (the top one), click Add Forwarding.
A box titled Forwarding opens. Set it up like this:
https://www.lintextractors.com
Permanent (301)That's your part done. Send me a quick text at 516-518-2390 and I'll switch on the security certificate (the padlock in the address bar) and confirm everything is live. That's usually done within the hour.
Type lintextractors.com into your phone or computer and you'll see your new site, with a small padlock next to the address.
If you see the old site for a little while, that's just your device remembering the previous address — it clears on its own. Trying it on your phone with Wi-Fi turned off is a quick way to see the real result.
GoDaddy moves things around from time to time, so a button may sit somewhere else or be worded slightly differently. If you're unsure at any point, stop and call me — nothing here is urgent, and it's much easier to sort out before something is saved than after.
Happy to do this together instead. Call any time and we'll screen-share; the whole thing takes about five minutes with two people on it.
